Women's Basketball Defeated By #13 Boston College

1/5/2005

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Georgetown University women's basketball team (5-7, 0-1) lost to 13th ranked Boston College (11-1, 2-0) 78-29 in the Hoyas first BIG EAST match-up of the 2004-2005 season.

Georgetown's bench was limited as the squad was plagued with injuries. The Eagles took advantage and went on an early scoring run that was unrecoverable, shooting an amazing 52.4% from the field. Despite the Eagles lead going into the second half, the Hoyas refused to give up and cut into the margin with senior Varda Tamoulianis (Moscow, Russia/Academy of Labour and Social Relations) leading the Hoyas with seven points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Kate Carlin (Ambler, Pa./Mount St. Joseph's) and senior Sarah Jenkins (Bowie, Md./Riverdale Baptist (Maryland)) added six tallies apiece.

BC had four players in double figures, with Kathrin Ress scoring 15, Jessalyn Deveny with 13, Lisa Macchia with 11, and Brooke Queenan with 10.

The Hoyas continue in BIG EAST action when they travel to Seton Hall on Saturday, January 8th. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
