Washington, D.C. -- The Georgetown University women's lacrosse team has released its 2006 schedule. Georgetown will play 16 games against some of the nation's top teams, including five games in the competitive BIG EAST Conference.
The schedule includes seven home games and nine road games as well as meetings with seven schools that were ranked in the top-10 at the end of the 2005 and nine schools that made an appearance in last season's NCAA Tournament.
The Hoyas will host William & Mary (3/15), Princeton (3/22), Rutgers (3/25), North Carolina (3/31), Notre Dame (4/15), Virginia (4/19) and Loyola (Md.) (4/29).
Georgetown will take to the road for meetings at Mt. St. Mary's (2/26), Oregon (3/5), Syracuse (3/11), Duke (3/18), Maryland (4/5), Boston University (4/9), Connecticut (4/22), James Madison (4/26) and Johns Hopkins (5/6).
GU will face BIG EAST foes Rutgers, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Connecticut and Loyola (Md.).
Boston University, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Maryland, North Carolina, Princeton and Virginia all finished last season ranked in the top-10 while those seven schools and Mt. St. Mary's and Syracuse all made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Georgetown finished last season with a 13-5 overall record, and advanced to its eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament.
The Hoyas, led by second-year Head Coach Ricky Fried, return six starters, including BIG EAST Attacker of the Year, junior Coco Stanwick (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) and BIG EAST Defender of the Year, junior Chloe Asselin (Talloires, France/Edgemont).
