Stanford, CA -The Stanford Cardinal could not keep up with the #5 Georgetown Hoyas in the East/West Challenge on Sunday, March 6. At one point in the game, Stanford took the lead, but Georgetown came back strong in the second half to win by a final margin of 10-6.

Seniors Ali Chambers and Catherine Elbe, and Coco Stanwick led the Hoyas with two goals apiece, while Sarah Oliphant. Lauryn Bernier, Stephanie Zodtner and Lauren Redler added one each.

Stanford was led by the play of freshman goalie Laura Shane. She stopped 17 shots on the day and stonewalled the Hoyas in the first half, allowing only two goals. On the offensive end, the trio of Nina Pantano, Megan Burker, and Sarah Bach carried the Cardinal to a 5-2 halftime lead.

In the second half, Georgetown adjusted to the soggy field and played tough defense, allowing only one Cardinal goal by freshman Megan McClain. Chambers scored two in the second stanza, including an impressive run up the middle of the field which was capped off by a nice shot into the back of the net.
