Green Named BIG EAST Co-Rookie of the Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University men's basketball player Jeff Green has been named BIG EAST Co-Rookie of the Year. Green shared these honors with Connecticut freshman Rudy Gay.

Green, a unanimous selection for the All-Rookie Team, was also named Honorable Mention All BIG EAST. Green is the team's second leading scorer averaging 13.2 (13.4 in BIG EAST play). He leads the team in rebounding (6.8), assists (2.9) and blocks (1.4). He has been honored five times this season as BIG EAST Rookie of the Week and was named to the Rainbow Classic All Tournament Team.

Over the course of the season he has posted five double-doubles, is shooting .488 from the field. Jeff has started every contest and averaged 34.2 minutes per game. He set career high in scoring with 22 against Connecticut 1/8/05, in rebounds with 12 at Villanova 1/15/05, in assists with seven at Boston College 1/29/05, in blocks with six against Penn State 12/6/04, and in steals with four against Long Beach State 12/22/04.

The Hoyas will face Seton Hall on Wednesday, March 9 in the first round of the BIG EAST Championship. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. at Madison Square Garden.
