Washington, D.C. -- The Georgetown University men's soccer team goes on the road this weekend for its third- straight BIG EAST Conference Blue Division matchup when the Hoyas visit Providence on Saturday at 1 p.m. on Glay Field.
Georgetown (3-7-0, 2-4-0 BE) comes into the game looking to snap a three-game losing streak with two of those games extending into overtime.
After making four career starts coming into the season, junior goalie Joe Devine (Exton, Pa./The Haverford School) has started six times this year, including each of the last four games and five of the team's six BIG EAST games. Devine has made 27 saves (1.32 gaa) and posted two shutouts, both against league opponents.
Senior forward Ricky Schramm (Eastchester, N.Y./Fordham Prep) tallied his fifth goal of the season on a PK in the loss to Connecticut. Schramm, who has scored in three of the last five games, now has 34 career goals, ranking fourth on the school's all-time list.
After missing two games with a leg injury, senior co-captain Tim Convey (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Charter) returned to the lineup on Wednesday against Seton Hall and played the entire game.
Freshman midfielder Scott Larrabee (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Loyola HS of LA) made his first career start vs. Connecticut and is one of 11 GU players to appear in every game.
Senior Daniel Grasso (Burr Ridge, Ill./Hinsdale Central) took a season-high five shots on goal last time out vs. Seton Hall and was a bit unlucky hitting the post on a second half blast.
Providence (7-2-0, 4-1-0 BE) has won two straight and five of its last six games. The Friars are tied for first in the league averaging 2.0 goals per game. Jonathan Medcalf leads the team with four goals while Alex Bury and Kevin Neumen have each collected three goals and two assists.
The Hoyas are 9-7-1 all-time in the series with the Friars. Each school has three victories over the course of the last six meetings.
Georgetown and Providence share four common opponents, Villanova, Rutgers, Syracuse and St. John's. PC is 3-1 with the loss coming 1-0 in overtime at St. John's. Georgetown is 2-2 in those games.
