Peters Earns All-Independent Softball Honors

May 29, 2007

Washington, D.C. - Freshman shortstop Samantha Peters (Suwanee, Ga./Collins Hill) was named to the All-Independent Softball Newcomer Team, it was announced Monday. This is the first postseason honor bestowed upon the Georgetown softball program, now in its second year on the Hilltop.

Peters led the team with a .327 batting average and started every game for the Hoyas during the 2007 campaign. She had a program-high 49 hits this season and led the team with four homers, 27 runs scored and 30 runs batted in. Peters ended the season on an 11-game hitting streak dating back to the second half of a twinbill against George Mason on April 18.

She earned All-Independent Player of the Week honors earlier this year on March 20, the first POW honor in program history.
