Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University midfielder Scott Larrabee (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Loyola HS of LA) has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week the conference announced Monday. The junior scored the game-winner on Saturday in GU's, 1-0, victory over West Virginia. The win keeps the Hoyas in third place in the league's Blue Division with a 4-2-3 record and a 9-3-3 overall mark.
Larrabee managed to score against a tough Mountaineer defense taking advantage of a poor pass on a rainy day. The sophomore was pressuring the WVU defense in the 64th minute and managed to get a foot on an errant pass. Larrabee needed just a few dribbles to fire from the top of the box and find the high right corner of the net. The goal was his third of the year. Larrabee is GU's second leading scorer with a total of nine points on the season.
This is the first offensive weekly award the squad has received this season. It is also the first award for Larrabee who now has six career goals.
The Hoyas will be tested this Wednesday as they travel to South Bend, Ind., to face Notre Dame in another BIG EAST matchup. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m.
