Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University head men's soccer coach Brian Wiese has announced the Hoyas 2008 spring competition dates. Georgetown will participate in five doubleheaders, playing in 10 matches over the next four weeks.
On Saturday, March 29, Georgetown plays at American University at 10 a.m. before the Hoyas come back to the Hilltop to host the University of the District of Columbia on North Kehoe Field at 1 p.m.
On Saturday, April 5, the Hoyas travel to Annapolis and the Naval Academy to square off against the Midshipmen at 11:30 a.m. and the Penn State Nittany Lions at 1 p.m.
April 12 sees Georgetown travel to George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. GU duels with St. Francis (Pa.) at 2:30 p.m. before the Blue and Gray takes on the George Mason Patriots at 4 p.m.
One week later, on April 19, 2008, the Hoyas will host Old Dominion at 1 p.m. on North Kehoe Field before Georgetown plays opposite the Hoya Alumni squad at 3:30 p.m.
Georgetown's final outing is slated for Saturday, April 26 on the Hilltop. The Blue and Gray hosts Virginia Commonwealth at noon before a meeting with Towson at 3 p.m. The Georgetown team will offically conclude the spring schedule with a team banquet at Maggianos Restaurant on Wisconsin Ave on the evening of April 26. Georgetown is coming off a 7-11-1 record in 2007 where the Blue and Gray posted a 5-5-1 mark in BIG EAST play. The Hoyas qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament as the No. 5 seed in the Blue Division before GU fell to the fourth-seeded USF Bulls in Tampa, Florida.
The Hoyas lose just two letterwinners to graduation from the 2007 team. Georgetown returns all of its scoring production from last season in addition to All-BIG EAST third team defender Len Coleman and goalie Matthew Brutto, who compiled three shutouts in nine starts last season.
