Seth C'deBaca, Future Hoya Soccer Standout Uche Onyeador, Turning Heads

June 13, 2008

Washington, D.C. - Current Georgetown University soccer standout Seth C'deBaca (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia Prep) and future Hoya Uche Onyeadeor (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) have made names for themselves in recent weeks.

College Soccer News talent analyst Joe Mauceri witnessed over 20 matches this past spring and noted 12 players who made an impact.

Mauceri noted that C'deBaca, who is entering his sophomore year on the Hilltop, "has the ability to get around opposing defenders with `speed and guile' and his effectiveness with the ball at his feet are aspects of his game that stood out."

C'deBaca netted a goal in the Hoyas' 2-0 win over Old Dominion before handing on an assist on GU's second goal.

The Albuquerque, N.M. native played his way into Georgetown's starting lineup last fall at right midfielder and finished the season with with four assists, including a helper on the eventual game-winner in a 2-1 victory at Seton Hall.

Georgetown concluded its 2008 spring season with a 5-3-1 mark.

Future Hoya Uche Onyeador set the Virginia state scoring record with the first of three goals in a 4-3 overtime victory over rival Broad Run on May 14, 2008.

Onyeador finished his scholastic career with 127 goals surpassing Martinsville High School's Kyle Quinlivan's 124 goals set in 2004.

Onyeador earned Virginia state Player of the Year honors from Gatorade and Rise Magazine for the 2006-07 season as Potomac Falls extended its unbeaten streak to 34-0-4 over his sophomore and junior seasons. The 5-9, 160-pound forward led Potomac Falls and coach Dave Gryder to the 2006 State Championship, three Dulles District titles and three Region II championships.

He tallied 28 goals as a freshman, 31 goals as a sophomore, 42 goals as a junior and 26 goals as a senior.

He is a two-time Loudoun Extra Player of the Year honoree and was named All-State First Team three times.

Onyeador will arrive on campus in August and will be eligible to play for the Hoyas in the fall of 2008.
