Washington, D.C. - The No. 24 Georgetown University men's soccer squad has a pair of conference road contests this weekend starting with a tilt against Rutgers on Friday in Piscataway, N.J., at 8 p.m. The Hoyas are 6-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in BIG EAST play after picking up their first conference win on Sunday over DePaul.
Friday's contest will be under the lights as the second half of a doubleheader with the Scarlet Knight women. Rutgers is 3-2-2 overall and still looking for its first BIG EAST victory of the season. Last weekend, the Scarlet Knights lost to Pittsburgh 1-0 and tied with West Virginia. This will be the third Red Division squad the Hoyas will face, they are currently 1-1 against conference teams outside of their own Blue Division.
On Sunday, Georgetown will travel to Villanova to face the Wildcats who are tied for second in the Red Division. Nova is 4-2-1 overall and 1-0-1 in BIG EAST play. The Wildcats will host Seton Hall on Friday at the Soccer Complex. Villanova currently boasts the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week in Adam Brazitis and will be playing its first home game after a stretch of six straight road contests.
The Hoyas enter the weekend with a solid defense that has allowed just three goals all season. Peter Grasso (Burr Ridge,Ill./Hinsdale Central) is leading Georgetown in scoring and ranked seventh in the conference with three goals so far this year.
