BEALLSVILLE, Md. - Nova Southeastern placed three individuals among the top-10 overall and the Sharks cruised to the team title with a 54-hole score of 52-over par 916 at the Hoya Women's Golf Invitational, hosted by Georgetown University at The Members Club at Four Streams.
Nova Southeastern, the No. 1 team in the country at the Division II level, posted a first round score of 10-over par 298 on Monday and capped off the tournament with a 20-over par 308 on Tuesday afternoon, finishing 25 strokes ahead of Princeton, second at 77-over par 941. The College of William & Mary placed third at 86-over par 950, followed by Rollins College in fourth at 88-over par 952 and host Georgetown was fifth at 102-over par 966.
Maria Garcia Austt of Nova Southeastern took home medalist honors as she led from start to finish. Garcia Austt fired an opening round 2-under par 70 during windy and cold conditions on Monday and held on to top the field of 77 golfers with a 7-over par 223. She finished one stroke ahead of Joanna Coe of Rollins (8-over par 224), who tied for the tournament best with a 2-under par 70 in Tuesday's third round.
The Sharks put three individuals among the top-10 and four among the top-15. Sandra Changkija finished in third place at 9-over par 225, while Nicole Whitmore tied for sixth place at 16-over par 232 and Taylor Collins tied for 11th place at 20-over par 236.
Georgetown was led by senior Chelsea Curtis (Mashpee, Mass./Cape Cod Academy), who tied for sixth place at 16-over par 232. Curtis shot a 3-over par 75 in the final round.
Classmate Carly Hunt (Easton, Pa./Conestoga), who was tied for 51st place entering Tuesday's round, carded a 2-over par 74 and moved into a tie for 21st place at 25-over par 241.
Freshmen Eunae Jo (Ridgewood, NJ./Ridgewood) tied for 30th place at 30-over par 246, freshman Joan Dulieu (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich Academy) tied for 43rd place at 36-over par 252 and sophomore Robyn English (Warwick, R.I./St. Mary Academy) finished in 48th place at 38-over par 254.
