Oct. 22, 2010

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's soccer team will host the Marquette University Golden Eagles in a BIG EAST matchup Saturday afternoon at North Kehoe Field. The Hoyas are 9-4-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play after downing Pittsburgh, 1-0, on Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Georgetown has won its last seven games including five conference foes and a ranked squad. This past week, the Blue & Gray downed University of Pittsburgh, 1-0, after senior Jose Colchao (Fairfax, Va./Lake Braddock Secondary School) scored in the 78th minute on a cross from senior Seth C'deBaca (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia Prep). The Blue & Gray clinched a berth in the BIG EAST Championship with the victory.

Freshman Steve Neumann (New Hope, Pa./Council Rock North) is leading the Hoyas with 22 points notching eight goals and six assists on the season. He has three game winners to his credit and has scored eight goals in just 10 shots on the net. Colchao follows Neumann in offensive categories with five goals and two assists for 12 points.

This Saturday will be Senior Day as the Hoyas will honor the 11 seniors on this year's squad with a short ceremony prior to kickoff.

The contest against Marquette will also be a part of the inaugural "Jr. Hoya Weekend," which will be on October 23-24, 2010. Both days will feature fun and exciting activities and include free admission to Georgetown soccer games, the men's game against Marquette on Saturday and the women's match against Notre Dame on Sunday, for children in the eighth grade and younger.

Marquette lost its last game, falling to Providence on Wednesday, 1-0, in double overtime. The Golden Eagles are 5-5-4 overall and 2-2-2 in BIG EAST play. Calum Mallace leads the offense with 14 points on five goals and four assists, followed by Chris Madsen, who has six points on three goals. Chris Bresnaham is leading the squad in the net with 60 saves in 12 games and a GAA of 0.88.

Georgetown is 4-1 all-time against Marquette who also plays in the conference's Blue Division. Last season, on October 17, the Hoyas lost to the Wildcats, 1-0, in Milwaukee. The Blue & Gray won, however, the last time they faced the Golden Eagles at home, on November 1, 2008, by a score of 4-2.

Kickoff on Saturday is scheduled for 1 p.m., at North Kehoe Field. Live stats and a webcast will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
