Georgetown Rowing Competes Four Boats at Occoquan Sprints

LORTON, Va. - LORTON, Va. - The Georgetown University openweight rowing team sent four boats to the Occoquan Sprints on the Occoquan Reservoir in Lorton, Va. on Sunday. It was the Hoyas' second day of racing over the weekend after opening the season with the Class of 2006 Cup on the Potomac River on Saturday morning.

In the varsity 8+ petite finals the Hoyas boat, coxswained by Libby Hambleton, finished in second place in a time of 6:37.95.

Georgetown's crew, coxswained by Danielle Valle Fitzgerald, finished in second place of the women's junior varsity 8+ petite finals in a time of 7:01.96

The Hoyas' boat in the novice 4+ including Lindsey Weil finished in a time of 7:59.14, good for second place in the first heat.

Georgetown's varsity 4+ coxswained by Danielle Valle Fitzgerald finished in sixth place in the third heat in a time of 8:08.33.
