No. 14 Hoyas to Host Rutgers this Saturday

WASHINGTON - The No. 14 Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad will face Rutgers on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Multi-Sport Field in a BIG EAST match-up. This game will be televised on Verizon FiOS.

No. 14 Georgetown is 7-5 on the season after playing some of the top teams in the nation. GU has out-of-conference wins over Johns Hopkins and Florida so far this season, as well as five BIG EAST wins. The Blue & Gray is currently on a four-game winning streak after victories over Notre Dame, Connecticut, Cincinnati and Louisville. In the two most recent contests, the Hoyas won at Cincinnati, 21-8, and at Louisville, 17-13.

On Monday, senior midfielder Ashby Kaestner (Trappe, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the second time this season. Kaestner recorded 10 points and 14 draw controls, including seven goals, in the games against Connecticut, Cincinnati, and Louisville to earn the honor.

The Georgetown offense is led by senior attacker Molly Ford (Reisterstown, Md./Notre Dame Prep), who has tallied 35 goals and 15 assists for 50 points in 12 games. Kaestner is second with 23 goals and 10 assists for 33 points.

Rutgers is 2-2 in the BIG EAST and 9-3 overall. The Scarlet Knights are on a three-game winning streak after wins over Connecticut, Monmouth and Villanova. Most recently, Rutgers defeated Villanova 14-6 on Tuesday. The Scarlet Knights are led by Brooke Cantwell who has 43 points on the season including a team-best 31 goals. Marlena Welsh is the squad's second-leading scorer with 21 goals, while Meghan Flanagan leads the team with 17 assists this season.

Georgetown is 16-3 all-time against the Scarlet Knights. Last year, the Hoyas faced them in Piscataway, N.J. on March 29 and won 9-5. Georgetown has won the last 10 match-ups against Rutgers, with the most recent loss coming on April 3, 1999.
