WASHINGTON – The second-seeded Georgetown University women's lacrosse team (11-5, 5-1 BIG EAST) begins postseason play against the third-seeded University of Connecticut Huskies on Thursday, April 30. The semifinal matchup is scheduled for a 9 p.m. ET draw.
WHAT'S AT STAKE
The winner of Thursday's contest will advance to the BIG EAST Championship game on Saturday, May 2. The victor will face either top-seeded Denver or fourth-seeded Villanova for the conference's automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

The Hoyas dominated the regular-season meeting between these two programs on March 28, securing an 18-7 victory at Cooper Field.
Sophia Loschert and McGovern led the offensive explosion with five goals apiece, while the Hoya defense held the Huskies scoreless in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
SERIES HISTORY
Georgetown leads the all-time series against UConn 19-9. While the Huskies took five-straight meetings prior to this season, the Hoyas hold a significant postseason history in the matchup, including a 16-8 victory in the 2014 BIG EAST semifinals. Georgetown is looking to reach its first BIG EAST final since 2022 and is hunting for its first tournament title since 2019, when they defeated Denver 9-8 in a double-overtime thriller.
