The Georgetown University field hockey team (5-4) fell to the Appalachian State Mountaineers (3-5) 1-0 at Kidd Brewer Stadium on the campus of Appalachian State. Nicole Morgan scored the lone goal for the game and the Mountaineers.
Sophomore goalkeeper Briana Pereira (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) allowed one goal and had two saves in the loss for the Hoyas.
The Hoyas and Mountaineers were scoreless in the first half.
Georgetown outshot Appalachian State 15-6, but could not find the back of the cage against goalkeeper Bridgette Street, who had 11 saves for the Mountaineers.
Nicole Morgan scored the game-winner with just over two minutes to play to put the Mountaineers over the Hoyas when Kelsey Dorset flipped the ball up in the air and Morgan hit into the open goal.
Georgetown will conclude the weekend facing Davidson tomorrow at noon.
