WASHINGTON - A pair of Georgetown University women's soccer players earned weekly honors from the BIG EAST Conference as the regular season came to a close this past weekend.
Freshman midfielder Daphne Corboz (Green brook, N.J./Watching Hills) was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week and senior forward Camille Trujillo (Albuquerque, N.M./St. Pius X) was named to the weekly Honor Roll.
The Hoyas closed out the regular season on Friday with a 6-0 win over Villanova at North Kehoe Field. It was the third-straight win, and the fifth in the last six games, for Georgetown, as the team improved to 14-5-0 overall and 8-3-0 in the BIG EAST.
The win on Friday set a school record for regular season wins, eclipsing the mark of 13 set by the 2007 and 2010 teams, respectively.
In winning, the Hoyas also locked up second place in the BIG EAST National Division, earning the team a bye into the quarterfinals of the league championship. Georgetown will host Syracuse (7-7-3, 6-5-0) on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. at North Kehoe Field.
Corboz was named Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after scoring a pair of goals in the team's 6-0 win over Villanova on Friday.
The midfielder is fourth on the team in scoring with 19 points (nine goals, one assist). She is second on the team in goals (9) and has scored 11 points in conference games this season (five goals, one assist).
Trujillo earns BIG EAST honors for the fourth time this season, as she was named the league's Player of the Week on Sept. 26 and has been named to the Honor Roll three times (Oct. 3, Oct. 10 and Oct. 24).
The 5-5 forward is second on the team in scoring with 25 points, leading the team with 11 goals while adding three assists. Since BIG EAST play start, Trujillo has scored 22 of her 25 points, with 10 goals and two assists against league foes. Overall this season, she has accounted for 31.3 percent of the team's BIG EAST goals (32) and for 24.7 percent of the team's points (89).
Trujillo is the all-time leader in goals scored at Georgetown with 33 and is tied for third all-time in scoring - with senior forward Samantha Baker (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson) - at 78 points.
