Women's Golf Announces 2011 Fall Schedule

July 20, 2011

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Head Women's Golf Coach Katie Brophy announced the team's schedule for the fall season, which features five tournaments and 11 days of competition.

Brophy will be leading the Hoyas in her first season as head coach, joining the program after serving as an assistant coach at Indiana for the last five years.

"The fall schedule features some great events against a lot of powerful golf programs," Brophy said. "I'm looking forward to seeing where we stack up."

The Hoyas open the 2011-12 academic year on Sunday, Sept. 18, competing in the Yale Intercollegiate. The 36-hole tournament will conclude on Monday, Sept. 18 in New Haven, Conn.

The next week, Georgetown travels to play in the Badger Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin on Monday, Sept. 25 and Tuesday, Sept. 26.

The Blue & Gray will be on the links for the third-straight week when they compete at the Nittany Lion Invitational from Friday, Sept. 30 to Sunday, Oct. 2.

The Hoyas then play at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C. on Monday, Oct. 10 and Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The fall season closes out on Monday, Oct. 31 and Tuesday, Nov. 1 when the team competes at the Fighting Camel Classic, hosted by Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C.

The Hoyas return six players from last year's team that tied for fourth place at the BIG EAST Championship.

"We've got a strong group of players who have had some experience coming back this season and I'm expecting to see big things from the Hoyas," Brophy said.

Leading the way will be seniors Joan Dulieu (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Detroit Country Day) and Eunae Jo (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood). Jo led the team in stroke average last season (77.50) and finished in seventh place at the BIG EAST Championship, while Dulieu, a two-time National Golf Coaches Association Scholar All-American, was second on the team at 77.63.
