Wells Named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's soccer player Ingrid Wells (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) has been named the first BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the 2011 season. Georgetown sophomore forward Kaitlin Brenn (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) also earned a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll as the Hoyas started the season 2-0.

Wells earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling four points in a 2-0-0 week. The senior had three points in a 3-0 victory at cross-town rival George Washington on Aug. 19. Her goal was scored on a PK in the 58th minute and she also notched an assist. Wells registered an assist in a 4-0 home-opening win over American on Aug. 21.

Brenn appeared in both contests and managed an assist in the win over American.

The Hoyas went 2-0 on the week with a 3-0 win at George Washington and a 4-0 victory in the home opener against American.

The Hoyas will be back in action on Friday at North Kehoe Field. The squad will welcome Towson University for a 3 p.m. kickoff. Live stats and a webcast will be available at www.GUHoyas.com. It will be a weekend of soccer as the Hoyas host No. 1 Stanford on Sunday.
