WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's lacrosse student athletes Logan McCraw (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga) and Kathleen Dwyer (Winnetka, Ill./Loyola Academy) were among 187 student-athletes to be named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Honor Roll on Monday.
The IWLCA honored 187 student-athletes from 65 different institutions with inclusion in the 2011 Academic Honor Roll. All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically. Both Hoyas graduated in May after four years on the Hilltop.
McCraw was a first team All-American honoree marking her second All-America award and her first-career nod to the first team. Last week, she was named First Team All-South Region by the IWLCA. The defender was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection and the BIG EAST Defender of the Year. The co-captain led the team in draw controls with 42 and ranked second in ground balls with 31. McCraw also has 15 caused turnovers to her credit as well as a goal and an assist. She is among the program's all-time leaders in draw controls.
McCraw was a Second Team All-America selection as a junior making her one of just 14 players in program history to earn All-America honors twice in her career. She was a marketing and management major.
Dwyer worked her way into the starting lineup over her four-year career. She played in 45 games with 29 goals and eight assists for 37 points and one game-winning goal. Dwyer also picked up 12 ground balls and tallied 18 draw controls. The attacker was a government major.
The Hoyas will move on without McCraw or Dwyer this season as the squad begins fall play this weekend.
