WASHINGTON - Sophomore Alice Choi (Whitestone, N.Y./Bayside) shot a 4-over par 75 in the final round and finished in third place to lead the Georgetown women's golf team as the Hoyas placed eighth among 16 teams at the University of Miami Hurricane Invitational. The two-day tournament was held at the Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club in Coral Gables, Fla.
Ohio State, ranked No. 16 in the country, and host Miami tied for first place at 66-over par 918, with the Buckeyes winning a playoff to take the team title.
Georgia State placed third (74-over par 926), with Kennesaw State fourth (76-over par 928) and Campbell rounded out the top five (77-over par 929).
The Hoyas posted their worst round of the three round, 54-hole tournament on Tuesday at 39-over par 323 and dropped from seventh place to eighth place, finishing with a 95-over par 947, four shots behind seventh place Michigan.
Choi was the story for the Hoyas, however, as the sophomore fired a 4-over par 75 to finish in third place in the field of 85 golfers with a two-day total of 12-over par 225. She posted scores of 5-over par 76 and 3-over par 74, respectively, on Monday.
Senior Joan Dulieu (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Detroit Country Day) shot an 8-over par 79 in the final round and tied for 38th place at 26-over par 239.
Junior Katie Skinner (Boise, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) placed 49th at 27-over par 243.
Senior Eunae Jo (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) struggled in the final round with a 16-over par 87 and placed 53rd overall at 31-over par 247, while junior Audrey Dalton (Portland, Ore./St. Mary) finished in a tie for 60th place at 33-over par 249.
Georgetown plays next at the Pinehurst Challenge, hosted by the College of Charleston on Monday, March 19 and Tuesday, March 20.
