WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field team looks ready for the postseason with just two weeks separating the Hoyas from the Penn Relays, the perennial start to the outdoor postseason. The Hoyas spent one weekend running a lot of student-athletes outside of their specialized distances and are now getting closer to running times to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Championship.

Proving the Hoyas are never to be outdone in the middle distance, the Georgetown men sent a slew of athletes through the men's 1,500-meterfinish line in BIG EAST qualifying times. Bobby Peavey led the way with a fifth-place time in 3:45.66 followed by Andrew Springer in eighth (3:46.55), Collin Leibold in 11th (3:48.66) who was competing unattached, Michael Lederhouse in 12th (3:49.56), all breaking 3:50.00. Dylan Sorenson finished 18th (3:51.30), followed by an unattached Miles Schoedler in 20th (3:51.41). Ryan Gil in 21st (3:51.80), Max Darrah in 25th (3:53.28), John Murray in 27th (3:53.81), Silas Frantz in 28th (3:54.04 and Brian King in 30th (3:54.56).

The Hoya women were able to do the same in the 1,500-meter, perhaps with even more efficiency. The Hoyas managed five in the top nine, all with BIG EAST qualifying times and only one athlete running unattached. Katrina Coogan led the way in what has proven to be a breakout season with a time of 4:19.57, the fastest collegiate time posted. All-American Rachel Schneider followed up with a third-place showing (4:20.78) competing unattached. All-American Madeline Chambers led a trio of Hoyas through the finish line with a seventh-place time of 4:26.96 followed by Kirsten Kasper in eighth (4:27.99) and Annamarie Maag in ninth (4:28.03).

The women's 800-eter run was just as contested by the Hoyas with All-American Chelsea Cox (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) running the best time by a collegiate runner at the meet, finishing third with a time of 2:05.97, easily qualifying for the BIG EAST Championships. Andrea Keklak placed sixth with a time of 2:07.41 while Becca DeLoache finished 13th overall timing in at 2:11.35.

Billy Ledder and Ryun Holder both punched their tickets to the postseason with impressive 800-meter run tims of 1:48.67 and 1:51.50, respectively. Ledder's time gives him the eighth-best mark in the East to date.

Deseree King doubled up her postseason events with qualifying times in both the women's 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash. She ran a fifth-place 54.74 in the 400 while timing in at 24.36 in the 200.Tenille Stoudenmire finished just ahead of King in the 200 with a time of 24.16 and also doubled up with a fifth-place finish in the finals of the 100-meter dash, timing in at 12.01.

Devante Washington doubled up his postseason possibilities with a third-place time of 10.87 in the men's 100-meter dash as well as an 11th-place showing in the 400-meter dash (48.85). Mike Andre joined him in the 400 with a time of 48.68, enough for eighth place.

Eghosa Aghayere, no stranger to the postseason, finished eighth in the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.66m, enough to get to the BIG EAST Championships.

The Hoyas will travel to Walnut, Calif., for the Mt. SAC Relays on April 18-19 and the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J., on April 19-20.
