WASHINGTON - The Georgetown men's tennis team improved to 5-3 on the season with a dual victory over Davidson College (2-7) on Saturday night, 5-2. The match was played in Burke, Va.
Doubles victories by junior Alex Tropiano (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) & junior Shane Korber (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona Del Mar) and senior Casey Distaso (The Woodlands, Texas/Edmond North) & freshman Jordan Portner (Ellicott, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) helped Georgetown capture the doubles point early on before singles play.
Sophomore Daniel Khanin (Baldwin, N.Y./Pendleton) won in the No. 1 position for the Hoyas in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Korber defeated Robert Lightbourn of Davidson, 6-2, 5-6, 6-3. Korber improved to 4-3 on the season in the No. 2 position.
Freshman Jack Murphy (Coronado, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) earned his sixth singles dual victory of the season with a win in the No. 4 position.
Tropiano improved to 4-1 in the spring with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Davidson's Alex Howard.
