WASHINGTON - Sophomore Nick Collins (Carthage, N.C./Union Pines) has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, following his performance over six games last week at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla.

Collins batted .500 (10-20) in six games this past week at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla., posting a .600 on-base percentage and adding three RBI and four runs scored. Collins had three multi-hit efforts including two three-hit performances. He reached base all five plate appearances on Wednesday against Saint Joseph's on three hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. At one point, over a three-game stretch, Collins reached base in eight straight plate appearances. He capped his week with a 3-4 performance against Iowa, adding two RBI and a run scored.

For the season, Collins is second on the team with a .328 (22-62) batting average. He is tied for second with 10 runs scored and tied for third with nine RBI. His .438 on-base percentage is tops on the team.

Collins becomes the fourth Georgetown player to be named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll. Both Patrick Camporini (Safety Harbor, Fla./Clearwater Central Catholic) and Matt Hollenbeck (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) earned nods last week and Steve Anderson (Albany, N.Y./Northfield Mt. Hermon Prep (Mass.)/Guilderland) was named back on Feb. 24.

Georgetown's (7-10) Tuesday matchup with UMBC has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions at Shirley Povich Field following Monday's winter storm. The Hoyas have four more games scheduled for this week, three of which are at Shirley Povich Field. They are scheduled to host George Washington on Wednesday at 3 p.m. as well as Towson on Friday (3 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m.). They are also scheduled to travel to Towson for an afternoon game on Sunday at 1 p.m. Any announcements regarding changes to those contests will be announced later in the week.
