WASHINGTON - The Georgetown men's tennis team (5-8) dropped a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon, 4-3, to the University of Pennsylvania at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Courts on Georgetown's campus.
Sophomore Daniel Khanin (Baldwin, N.Y./Pendleton) won one of two singles matches for the Hoyas. His victory came in the No. 1 position over Penn's Nikola Kocovic, 6-2, 6-3. It was Khanin's sixth duals victory on the season. He now owns a 6-7 mark in the No. 1 position for the Hoyas this spring.
Junior Alex Tropiano (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) grabbed the No. 4 singles match for Georgetown, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (5), over Penn's Matt Nardella. Tropiano has won his last three matches and is 2-2 from the No. 4 spot in 2014.
Georgetown was able to grab the doubles point with two 8-6 victories over Pennsylvania, but could not translate the success over to the singles portion.
