Jan. 24, 2015 WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's soccer squad has announced its 2015 spring schedule. The Hoyas will play five total games with three against professional sides and two against teams from Major League Soccer. The Blue & Gray will be without the five seniors from last season including Tomas Gomez and Tyler Rudy who will both be training with MLS sides this spring.
The Hoyas will open with the reigning MLS champs, the LA Galaxy on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Multi-Sport Field. The game is scheduled for 9 a.m., and is in the midst of the Galaxy's training camp.
On Sunday, March 1, the Blue & Gray will travel to Richmond to take on the Richmond Kickers at Ukrop Park at 5 p.m. The Kickers are part of the USL PRO league and an official partner of DC United of the MLS.
After a break, Georgetown will head to Philadelphia to take on the Philadelphia Union of the MLS at 11 a.m on Saturday, March 21. The Union finished sixth in the Eastern Conference last season with a mark of 10-12-12. The squad will open the season on March 7 at PPL Park.
A pair of college sides will close out the spring season. Georgetown will play the University of North Carolina on Saturday, March 28 in Richmond, Va. The time is to be determined. The Tar Heels advanced to the Elite 8 last season before failing to advance against UCLA in a 3-3 tie.
The final contest will be a home game against Duke on Saturday April 11 at Shaw Field. That time is also still TBD. The Blue Devils finished the season 9-9-1 overall and had a mark of 4-4 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
