WASHINGTON - Former players, like Dikembe Mutombo, Reggie Williams and Jaren Jackson, were there. And of course, the 2015-16 editions of the Georgetown men's and women's basketball teams were there. But to cap off Hoya Hoops Madness on Friday night at McDonough Arena, 2 Chainz was there.

A Gold medal-selling rapper who has had several track appear in the Billboard Hot 100, 2 Chainz took the stage at McDonough Arena around 9:30 p.m., finishing the evening off with a 30-minute performance that capped off an exciting night.

2 Chainz, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, played basketball at Alabama State and played against Georgetown during the 1996-97 season.

Doors to McDonough Arena opened at 7 p.m. and the stands were full as the crowd awaited the introduction of the teams and the musical performance. Early performances included the GU Dance Company, the GU Step Team, GU Jawani and Groove Theory. Following Groove Theory's dance, the women's basketball team joined the group to perform a choreographed dance for the fans.

Based on crowd cheers, a winner for the best dance team performance was selected and then Jack the Bulldog took the floor riding his skateboard.

The women's basketball team was then introduced with second-year Head Coach Natasha Adair taking the mic. The team finished off the performance with another dance.

The men's team was then announced as the crowd went wild. Head Coach John Thompson III finished off the introductions coming out to ABC from the Jackson Five. He spoke to the crowd and then led both the men's and women's team in a Soul Train line and a dance off featuring members of both teams and students from the crowd.

The men's and women's teams were split into two teams for a Blue & Gray inter-squad scrimmage which was stopped halfway through for a dunk competition featuring men's players Isaac Copeland and L.J. Peak. Peak's final dunk was one when he leaped over freshman center Jessie Govan.

The evening was capped off with a performance from 2 Chainz, who had the crowd going crazy.

The men's team will open the season on Nov. 14 at Verizon Center against Radford. The women open the season Friday, Nov. 13 at Maryland-Eastern Shore.
