WASHINGTON - No. 9/7 Georgetown University men's soccer junior defender Joshua Yaro (Santa Barbara, Calif./Cate School) was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his efforts over the weekend. Additionally, senior Brandon Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./St. Joseph) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. The Hoyas are currently 10-2-2 overall and 6-0-0 in BIG EAST Conference play, tying the squad for first place with No. 1/1 Creighton University.

On Saturday, the squad shut out the St. John's University Red Storm in a BIG EAST matchup at Belson Stadium in Queens, N.Y. The win set a new program record for consecutive shutouts with six, breaking the record set in 1998. Additionally, it continued GU's 11-game unbeaten streak, tying the program record set in 2012 and marked Head Coach Brian Wiese's first win at St. John's in his career. The Blue & Gray has yet to give up a goal in BIG EAST play.

Yaro was a big part of the defensive effort with a goal-saving clear late in the second half.

This is his fourth-career weekly award from the conference and the first this season. He was named the BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and a Preseason All-American from a number of publications.

Allen scored the game winner against St. John's with a penalty kick in the 59th minute.

This is Allen's second nod to the BIG EAST honor this season and the fifth of his career. Allen was the BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and a Preseason All-America selection. He was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week this season on Sept. 14.

Georgetown will host Seton Hall University in a BIG EAST matchup on Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m., at Shaw Field. Live stats will be available through www.GUHoyas.com.
