Allen and Yaro Named NSCAA All-American

Dec. 11, 2015

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University senior forward Brandon Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./St. Joseph) and junior defender Joshua Yaro (Santa Barbara, Calif./Cate School) were both named 2015 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Men's All-Americans on Friday when the national squads were announced. Allen earned a spot on the first team and Yaro was named to the second team.

Allen, a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist, was also named First Team All-Great Lakes Region last week. He was a unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST honoree. It marked his fourth-consecutive All-BIG EAST honor and his third-consecutive nod to the first team. Allen had 15 points on six goals and three assists in conference play as well as four game winners. Overall, he led the team in scoring with 12 goals and seven assists for 31 points.

With a goal against Hofstra University in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, Allen tallied his 50th-career goal making him the all-time goals leader in Georgetown program history.

Earlier this season, he was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Preseason All-BIG EAST and to TopDrawerSoccer.com's Preseason Best XI First Team. He was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on two occasions and to the honor roll twice as well as earning CollegeSoccerNews.com National Player of the Week honors.

This is his third-consecutive All-American honor and his first nod to the first team.

Yaro was named the unanimous BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST for the second-consecutive year. The team captain started all nine conference games for the Blue & Gray this season, and played a key role in the squad's six conference shutouts.

Overall, Yaro started 17 games for the Hoyas and posted an assist. He and the defense posted nine shutouts on the season.

Yaro was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, the BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, Preseason All-BIG EAST and to TopDrawerSoccer.com's Preseason Best XI First Team. He was also named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 26.

This is his second-consecutive All-America award after earning a spot on the first team a season ago.

GU had an impressive season with a mark of 16-2-3 overall and 9-0-0 in BIG EAST Conference play. After opening the season 0-2-1, Georgetown went on a program record 18-game unbeaten streak including a 14-game win streak. With the Blue & Gray failing to advance in the NCAA Tournament, the unbeaten streak will continue into next season.

Along the way, the Hoyas won the BIG EAST Regular Season title with a perfect 9-0-0 record. It was the fifth time in program history that the Hoyas have won the regular season championship with the last coming in 2013 and the last outright championship coming during the 2010 campaign. The last time a team went a perfect 9-0-0 during the BIG EAST Regular Season was the University of Louisville in 2009.

Additionally, Georgetown won the BIG EAST Championship crown, marking the first time in program history that the Hoyas won the league's postseason tournament.

The Blue & Gray was the No. 3 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
