Dec. 3, 2015 WASHINGTON -- Four Georgetown University women's soccer players were selected to All-Northeast Region teams by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Thursday afternoon.
Sophomore midfielder Rachel Corboz (Green Brook, N.J./Pingry) and senior forward Crystal Thomas (Elgin, Ill./Wheaton Academy/Notre Dame) were selected to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team, while senior defender Sarah Adams (San Diego, Calif./Westview) and sophomore defender Elizabeth Wenger (Lititiz, Pa./Warwick) were named to the second team.
The Hoyas finished the 2015 season with an 11-5-4 overall record and made their fourth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Georgetown posted a 6-1-2 mark in the BIG EAST Conference and finished in second place in league play.
This is the second-straight NSCAA All-Region honor for Corboz, who was a third team selection in 2014 as a freshman. Corboz was named the BIG EAST Conference Midfielder of the Year and a first team all-league selection this season. She led Georgetown in scoring with 28 points, registering a team-high 10 goals and eight assists. She finished third in the BIG EAST in points scored, tied for third in goals and tied for second in assists.
Corboz was joined on the first by team by Thomas, who was an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection this year. Thomas finished second on the team in scoring with 21 points. She ranked third on the team with seven goals scored and was second on the team with seven assists.
Adams and Wenger both earned second team honors after helping to lead a backline that adjusted throughout the season with injuries but helped to post five shutouts and allowed only eight goals in BIG EAST Conference play.
Adams, who started in 73 career games and played in 84 over four years, was an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection this year. Wenger, also an All-BIG EAST Second Team honoree this year, was one of five players to start all 20 games this season for the Hoyas.
