Bandos and Devine Earn BIG EAST Honors

April 21, 2015

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's lacrosse players junior Kristen Bandos (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame of Namur) and senior Adrianne Devine (Loudonville, N.Y./Shaker) both earned weekly honors on Tuesday. Bandos was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week, while Devine was named the BIG EAST Defender of the Week.

Bandos helped the Hoyas clinch the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Championship for the second-straight season following a 2-0 week in league play.

The junior totaled seven points off seven goals, adding three ground balls, a draw control and five caused turnovers. In Wednesday's career-high five-goal showing against UConn, Bandos capped the day with the game-winning score with 15 seconds left as Georgetown escaped with a 13-12 win on its home field. Four of Bandos' five goals came over the final 30 minutes as GU thwarted the upset bid by the Huskies. The junior scored Georgetown's final two goals at Marquette, keeping the Golden Eagles just out of reach as the Hoyas won 8-7 in Milwaukee.

This is Bandos' first-career weekly honor and the first midfield award for the Hoyas this season.

Devine led a Georgetown defense which scored a pair of victories last week, totaling four draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls, while also adding a trio of goals to her credit. In the 8-7 win at Marquette on Saturday, Devine marked the Golden Eagles' No. 3 scorer in Riley Hill, limiting her to one goal and committing a season-high three turnovers. All three of Devine's goals came against UConn in the 13-12 win, with the third score coming with six minutes left which tied the game 11-11.

This is Devine's first honor of the season and the second of her career. Georgetown has had one defensive player of the week award this season.

Georgetown will be back in action on Saturday as the squad hosts the Temple University Owls at Multi-Sport Field in a 3 p.m., matchup. Live stats and a webcast will be available at www.GUHoyas.com. It will also be Senior Day as the team honors the nine members of the senior class.
