Ryan Busch Selected to BIG EAST Honor Roll

May 4, 2015

WASHINGTON - Senior shortstop and co-captain Ryan Busch (Falcon Heights, Minn./Roseville Area) of the Georgetown baseball team has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the conference on Monday. The award recognizes Busch's efforts in GU's four games last week.

Busch batted .375 (6-for-16) for the week with a home run, a double and four runs scored. In Friday's series opener against St. John's, Busch finished 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, two runs scored and a stolen base. His home run was his fourth in a nine-game stretch. Busch had two more hits, including a double, on Saturday and scored another run while crossing the plate one more time on Sunday. He now stands among the BIG EAST leaders in both home runs (5) and runs scored (35).

This is Busch's second selection to the honor roll this season, the first coming back on April 20. It is his third-career weekly award as he was also named to the honor once last season as a junior. Overall, 11 Hoyas have earned 14 BIG EAST weekly awards this season, including Kevin Superko (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley/Phillips Andover) being named Pitcher of the Week last Monday.

The Blue & Gray will take this week off for final exams before concluding its seven-game homestand with a three-game series against Butler over the weekend, May 8-10, at Shirley Povich Field. Friday's and Saturday's contests will begin at 7 p.m. while first pitch on Sunday is scheduled for 1 p.m. The Hoyas will celebrate Senior Day prior to Saturday's game.
