WASHINGTON – Georgetown graduate student JT Raab was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 9th round of the 2026 MLB Draft with the 257th overall selection. Raab, the right-handed pitcher from Seaford, New York becomes the seventh Hoya to be drafted since the 2018 season, the 26th overall and the sixth-highest selection in program history.
Raab established himself as one of the top arms in the BIG EAST over the past two seasons, earning 2026 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team honors after being named to the 2025 All-BIG EAST First Team. Raab departed the Hilltop ranking second in Georgetown program history with a 10.73 career strikeout-per-nine-innings ratio and led all BIG EAST pitchers in strikeouts during the 2025 season. In his two seasons at Georgetown, he started in all 25 appearances, accumulating 120 innings pitched, a 4.88 ERA and 2.91 strikeout to walk ratio. He delivered one of the best performances of his career in his final appearance as a Hoya, a series-clinching win over Seton Hall, striking out a career-high 13 batters over seven scoreless innings. Raab graduated from Georgetown's McDonough School of Business with a master's degree in finance.
"I'm really happy for JT and the commitment that he made and his development when he came to Georgetown, his loyalty to stay both years, and his ability to help our organization get better. It shows a lot about a player who does all that you ask and more, and to get rewarded from that is a great testament to him, but also our development system with Coach Capen and our assistant coaches to help in his process. Looking forward to seeing him reach towards his dreams of getting to the major leagues." - Head Coach Edwin Thompson on JT Raab
