WASHINGTON -

After two weekends on the road, the Hoyas return to Guy Mason Field this weekend for a three-game series with BIG EAST opponent Seton Hall University. The Hoyas (7-27, 1-7 BIG EAST) and the Pirates (19-22, 2-6 BIG EAST) open the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 16 at noon before the series finale on Sunday, also at noon.

The Hoyas will look to make up ground in the conference standings this weekend as they hit the midway point of the league slate. The series will mark GU's second home BIG EAST series before hosting Butler in its conference series finale. Georgetown most recently fell to Towson in its last nonconference matchup of the season on Wednesday.

Senior Samantha Giovanniello (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) leads GU across the board offensively with a .370 average, 13 doubles, six home runs and 33 RBI. Sophomore Theresa Kane (Mystic, Conn./Stonington) joins Giovanniello among four Hoyas batting at least .300 and paces the squad with 16 stolen bases. As a team Georgetown is batting .281 and scoring 4.4 runs per game.

The Pirates have dropped six straight with its most recent loss coming in a series sweep last weekend against Villanova last weekend. Valerie Suto leads the Pirates and ranks third in the BIG EAST with a .397 batting average. She also paces the league and ranks among the national leaders with 23 stolen bases. In the circle, Madison Strunk leads the BIG EAST with 14 victories while Chrisa Head holds a 2.47 ERA over 28.1 innings during conference play.

Georgetown and Seton Hall have squared off 18 times since GU joined the BIG EAST in softball in 2008, with the Pirates up 12-6 in the all-time series.
