April 21, 2016 WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Head Men's Soccer Coach Brian Wiese announced the 2016 team captains on Thursday. Seniors Bakie Goodman (Sarasota, Fla./Pine View School for the Gifted) and Brett Campbell (Wallingford, Pa./The Haverford School) as well as sophomore JT Marcinkowski (Alamo, Calif./De La Salle) were selected by the coaching staff and their teammates to lead the 2016 squad.
"It's always a terrific honor to be named captain," said Wiese. "We have two great, capable seniors and for JT it speaks volumes to his character and leadership at such a young age. Our leadership structure will include these three captains and strong group of seniors."
Goodman has been a major part of Georgetown's recent success. He has appeared in 64 games with 55 starts and has seven goals and 11 assists for 25 points. He has three-career game winners. Last season, he started all 21 games and had two goals and three assists for seven points. As a freshman, Goodman was named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
Campbell appeared in all 21 games last season with 15 starts. He had four goals and three assists for 11 points as well as a game winner against Providence. In his career, Campbell has appeared in 53 games with 16 starts tallying six goals and four assists for 16 points.
Marcinkowski had a breakout rookie year for the Hoyas earning NSCAA Second Team All-Great Lakes Region, First Team All-BIG EAST, as well as BIG EAST Freshman of the Year honors. He started all 21 games for the Blue & Gray and posted a 0.69 GAA on the season totaling 63 saves. The freshman went 16-2-3 in the net and managed nine shutouts. He already ranks third in single-season shutouts and eighth in program history in career shutouts.
He was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 14, and was a three-time BIG EAST Freshman of the Week selection. Marcinkowski was also named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman squad.
This past summer, Marcinkowski appeared in the U.S. Men's National Team U-18 camp and he was called into camp with the U-20s in January.
Georgetown is nearing the end of its spring season. The squad will face UNC this weekend in its final spring game at 2 p.m., in Richmond, Va.
