The Georgetown University men's and women's tennis teams continued their victorious ways by defeating Villanova on Friday. The GU men outplayed the Wildcats, 5-2, while the women's team swept the BIG EAST opponent, 6-0.
Extending a five-match winning streak, the Georgetown women's team delivered a 6-0 sweep against the Wildcats. The Hoyas opened the match by claiming the doubles point. In singles play, the Blue & Gray continued its success by capturing each match in straight sets.
On the men's side, Villanova opened taking the doubles point, but the Hoyas rallied for a 5-2 win. Michael Chen and Jordan Portner took the only GU win in doubles play at the No. 1 spot.
In singles action, GU took straight-set conquests at the Nos. 2, 5 and 6 spots. Chen and Yannik Mahlangue stormed back to claim the Nos. 3 and 4 spots in three sets, respectively.
Prior to the match, senior Daniel Khanin was honored in a Senior Day ceremony by Head Coach Gordie Ernst for his amazing leadership and work ethic over the years.
