Johnson, Gosman Earn All-Patriot League Rowing Selections

May 18, 2016

WASHINGTON - Two members of the Georgetown women's rowing team have been named to All-Patriot League Rowing teams, as announced by the conference on Wednesday. Junior Christina Johnson (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) was named to the All-Patriot League First Team and junior Sabrina Gosman (Newton, Mass./Winsor School) earned a spot on the second team.

Johnson and Gosman have both been consistent members of the Hoyas' varsity 8+ boat, with Johnson rowing in the seventh seat and Gosman serving as the crew's coxswain. With their help, GU's varsity 8+ defeated both George Washington and George Mason at the Georges Cup. In last week's Patriot League Championships, the Hoyas improved from their sixth seed to place fifth in the grand final in a time of 7:26.878, finishing just six seconds out of third place.

Last fall, Johnson rowed in the varsity 4+ at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, helping lead the Hoyas to a 14th-place finish, and 11th overall out of collegiate crews, in the Women's Championship 4+ race.

Georgetown, which placed fifth overall at the 2016 Patriot League Championships, will wrap up the season when it sends two boats - the lightweight varsity 8+ and varsity 4+ - to the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships, June 3-5, on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.
