WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University baseball team will head back out on the road this weekend, traveling north to Providence, R.I., for a three-game, two-day series against Brown University. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m., before concluding the weekend with a noon start on Sunday. In its home opener on Wednesday, Georgetown (13-8) is coming off scored nine runs in the first two innings and never looked back, defeating Coppin State University, 14-4. Jake Bernstein (Frederick, Md./St. John's College HS) and Michael DeRenzi (Mendham, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) each had four hits in the top two spots of the lineup. Bernstein was on base six times, adding a walk and a hit-by-pitch, and also had three RBI, while DeRenzi finished with four RBI. Nick Leonard (Washington, D.C./Maret) started on the mound and went 5.0 innings, scattering seven hits and three unearned runs.
On Monday, Kevin Superko (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley/Phillips Andover) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for his efforts in Sunday's win at Gardner-Webb University. He scattered seven hits and two runs, while striking out two and walking none. After giving up single runs in the first and third innings, he allowed just two singles and faced one over the minimum in his final four innings. It was Superko's third-consecutive win and he lowered his season ERA to 4.86.
Overall this season, DeRenzi leads the Hoyas with a .413 batting average and is also tops on the team with three home runs, three triples, 28 RBI and eight stolen bases. Bernstein and Zach Racusin (Morristown, N.J./Salisbury School/Marist) are both batting .393 on the season, while Jake Kuzbel (Ashburn, Va./Stone Ridge) is right behind them at .385 and is second on the team with 23 RBI.
Brown (4-6) enters the weekend on a four-game winning streak, after starting the season 0-6. Through their first 10 games, the Bears are hitting .253 as a team and the pitching staff has a 3.62 ERA.

What's Coming Up Next
Following this weekend's series, the Hoyas will return home to Shirley Povich Field for a midweek matchup against Navy on Wednesday, March 29. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Georgetown will then play a three-game set against George Mason next weekend.
