March 28, 2017 WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's lacrosse senior goalkeeper Maddy Fisher (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for her efforts over the past two games.
Fisher made a career-high 15 saves and held Connecticut to a season-low six goals in Georgetown's (4-6, 2-0 BIG EAST) 14-6 victory on Saturday. The senior faced 29 shots in 60 minutes of action, posting a .714 save percentage to improve her BIG EAST clip to a league-high .696 over the first two games. On Wednesday, she managed two saves in 32:56 minutes of action in an 11-7 loss at Loyola (Md.)
The senior has 72 saves on the season with a 4-5 mark in the cage. This is her second-career defensive weekly honor and the first award for the Blue & Gray this season.
The Hoyas will return home on Saturday as the squad hosts Temple University at 1 p.m., at Cooper Field. The game will be streamed live on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Jeremy Huber calling the action. Live stats will also be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
