DENVER - Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team fell 20-11 on the road at No. 4/6 Denver in BIG EAST action on Saturday afternoon. The Hoyas drop to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in league play while the Pioneers improve to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in BIG EAST play.

Daniel Bucaro (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) led the Hoyas with six points, recording a hat trick with three goals to go with three assists. Peter Conley (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck), Devon Lewis (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) and Austin McDonald (Potomac, Md./Georgetown Prep) each added two goals while Jake Carraway (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) and Rob Clark (Cooksville, Md./McDonogh) each added a lone goal. Carraway, Lewis and Craig Berge (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) all added assists as well.

The opening frame proved to be a high-scoring, back-and-forth affair. Georgetown jumped on the board first with a goal by McDonald just 84 seconds into the contest before the Pioneers responded with consecutive goals to take a 2-1 lead. The Hoyas then rallied off three unanswered goals from Lewis, Conley and Carraway to lead 4-2, but Denver closed out the frame with two goals in the final two minutes of action to knot things up at 4-4.

In the second, Denver opened the scoring to break the tie before Conley netted his second of the game to even things back up at 5-5. The Pioneers outscored the Blue & Gray 3-1 down the stretch to take an 8-6 lead into the break.

Coming out of the break, Denver took control in the third quarter. The Pioneers outscored the Hoyas 8-2 in the frame including seven unanswered goals. Georgetown notched goals from Lewis and Bucaro in the period.

In the fourth, Denver outscored GU 4-3 to close out the frame. Bucaro completed his hat trick in the stanza while McDonald added a goal and Clark tallied his first career goal.

Nick Marrocco (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) recorded six saves between the pipes while Jack Stephenson (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) added another.

Charlie Ford (San Carlos, Calif./St. Ignatius) and Peter Tagliaferri (Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley) both led the Hoyas with three ground balls.

Connor Cannizzaro led Denver with four goals and five assists while Austin French and Ethan Walker both had three goals apiece. Alex Ready collected seven saves in goal.

Georgetown returns to action on April 8 on the road at Providence to continue BIG EAST play.
