Game Notes

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University baseball team (27-25, 4-11 BIG EAST) will close out the 2017 season this weekend, traveling to Cincinnati for a three-game, BIG EAST series against Xavier. First pitch on Thursday and Friday is set for 3 p.m. while Saturday's finale is scheduled for noon and can be watched on the BIG EAST Digital Network. Live stats for all three games will be available at www.GUHoyas.com and in-game updates can be found on the team's twitter account: @GtownBaseball.

To watch Saturday's game, download the FOX Sports GO app for iOS, Android, Kindle Fire tablets and phones and select Windows devices to view BIG EAST Digital Network games on-the-go. New for this season, the app now supports Roku, Apple TV and Chromecast. The FOX Sports GO platform can also be accessed at FOXSportsGO.com on desktops. A cable provider's login is required to access FOXSportsGO on a desktop.

For the season, Zach Racusin (Morristown, N.J./Salisbury School/Marist) leads the Hoyas with a .349 batting average and is tops in the BIG EAST with 75 hits, which is 10th in Georgetown's single-season history. Michael DeRenzi (Mendham, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) is batting .344 with team highs of five home runs, 44 RBI and 12 stolen bases. Jake Kuzbel (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) is hitting at a .343 clip and has a team-high five triples while ranking second on the squad with 13 doubles and 42 RBI. His four home runs ties him for second on the Hoyas with Sammy Stevens (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice) and Ryan Weisenberg (Parkland, Fla./San Ramon Valley [Calif.]).

Xavier enters the weekend with a 26-25 overall record, and a 7-6 mark in BIG EAST play. The Musketeers, which defeated Cincinnati on Tuesday to snap a seven-game losing streak, need just one win to clinch a berth in the BIG EAST Championships. The offense is batting .262 as a team, while the pitching staff owns a 4.75 ERA.

Kuzbel needs two more runs scored to be the sixth player in program history to be a member of the 200-hit, 100-RBI and 100-runs scored clubs. He also needs just 11 at-bats to set the career record with 749.

DeRenzi needs one more sacrifice bunt to set the Georgetown single-season record with 12. He also needs just two more hits to join the single-season top 10.

With one win this weekend, the Hoyas will clinch their first winning season since 1985 (27-25) and will have 28 wins on the season, the second most in Georgetown history. The pitching staff has already set the team records for strikeouts (391) and strikeouts per nine innings (7.62).
