Georgetown Travels to UMBC

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team is set to travel to Baltimore, Maryland to face the UMBC Retrievers on Tuesday, April 14 at Alumni Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS

  • In its last outing, Georgetown defeated the St. John's University Red Storm 10-7 on Sunday at Jack Kasier Stadium.
  • Jeremy Sheffield leads the Hoyas slashing .380/.482/.533 this season. The senior has notched 52 hits, 35 RBIs, 10 doubles, a triple, three home runs and 25 runs scored.
  • Connor Peek paces the Hoya offense slashing .372/.474/.540 in his first season on the Hilltop. The graduate student has tallied 51 hits, 11 doubles, four home runs, 34 RBIs and 39 runs scored.
  • Graduate left-hander Spencer Seid boasts a 5-2 record and a 2.84 ERA while leading Georgetown with 53 strikeouts and 50.2 innings pitched over eight starts. Senior right-hander Kai Leckszas owns a 4-3 record and a 3.43 ERA with 38 strikeouts over 44.2 innings pitched over eight starts. JT Raab holds a 1-3 record with a 6.66 ERA with 33 strikeouts. 
  • Graduate right-hander Luke Jackman has a 1.89 ERA while leading the Hoyas with six saves in 19.0 innings and 15 appearances out of the bullpen.
  • Georgetown returns 22 players from the 2025 squad and has added 10 transfers and seven newcomers.
  • Graduate student JT Raab earned a nod to the 2026 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team after posting a team-best 3.63 ERA in 74.1 innings of action in 2025. The Seaford, New York native was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team in 2025.
  • Head Coach Edwin Thompson enters his sixth season on the Hilltop. Thompson guided GU to its most successful season in program history in 2024 posting a 36-21 record marking three-consecutive 30-win seasons for the first time in program history. 

ABOUT UMBC

  • UMBC enters the contest with a 16-14 overall record and a 5-4 mark in conference play following a 16-5 loss to Binghamton in eight innings on Sunday, April 12 in Vestal, New York.
  • Right-handed pitcher Bennett Speicher holds an 8.04 ERA in 15.2 innings pitched. Speicher has tallied 10 strikeouts on the year.
  • Liam Bowen enters his seventh season at the helm of UMBC.
