Rutgers Final 
Georgetown's women's golf team fired an 11-over par 299 in the final round and junior Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla./St. Andrew's) took medalist honors as the Hoyas captured the team title at the Rutgers Invitational, played at the Rutgers University Golf Course in New Jersey.
The Hoyas finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a score of 45-over par 909 in the 11-team field, edging out Delaware, who finished in second place at 47-over par 911. Rutgers finished in third place at 50-over par 914, with Albany fourth (69-over par 933) and FDU rounded out the top-five (77-over par 941).
The Blue & Gray placed four of its top five players among the top-20 overall en route to the team title. It is Georgetown's second win at the Rutgers Invitational, the first coming in 2002.
Popowitz led from wire-to-wire. She opened play yesterday with a 3-under par 69 and had a two-shot lead entering the final round. The junior shot a 2-over par 74 on Sunday to finish at 3-over par 219 to win by five strokes.
Senior Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School), who was tied for 27th place at 17-over par 161 entering Sunday's round, fired a 4-under par 68 in the final round and tied for eighth place at 13-over par 229.
Junior Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J./Kent Place) posted a 5-over par 77 in Sunday's round and tied for 12th place at 14-over par 230.
Senior Christine Schmitt (Pittsford, N.Y./Mercy) carded an 8-over par 80 on Sunday and tied for 18th place at 19-over par 235. Senior Lauren Gros (Windermere, Fla./Windermere Prep) finished in a tie for 30th place at 25-over par 241.
Sophomore Ashley Fitzgibbons (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake Senior), playing as an individual, finished in sixth place at 11-over par 227. She posted a 5-over par 77 on Sunday after shooting consecutive rounds of 3-over par 75 on Saturday.
Sophomore Kate Evanko (West Chester, Pa./Unionvile), also playing as an individual, tied for 41st place at 31-over par 247.
Georgetown is back in action on Sunday, Sept. 24 when the Hoyas begin play in the Boston College Intercollegiate.
