PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The Georgetown University baseball team departed campus on Thursday for its 10-day, seven-game spring break trip to the Snowbird Baseball Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida. The Blue & Gray will take on Mount St. Mary's (March 3, 3 p.m.), Dartmouth (March 4, 11:30 a.m.), Northeastern (March 6, 4 p.m.), Western Michigan (March 7 and 9, noon) and Saint Joseph's (March 10/11, 2 p.m./noon).

The Hoyas (0-7) dropped a heartbreaker on Tuesday to crosstown rival George Washington, 6-3. Georgetown held a 3-1 lead entering the seventh inning, but a grand slam gave the Colonials the late lead. GU outhit GW, 9-6, on the afternoon, led by a three-hit performance from Austin Shirley (Strafford, Pa./Conestoga), a pair of doubles by Eddie McCabe (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) and two knocks by Sammy Stevens (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice).

Mount St. Mary's -- Saturday, 3 p.m.
Mount St. Mary's currently sits at 2-4 on the season, but will play Presbyterian on Friday before Saturday's matchup with the Hoyas. The Mountaineers opened their season with a victory over Coppin State, but then opened up their seven-game trip to Florida with four-consecutive losses. Thomas Savastio and Sean Kelly lead the MSM offense with .444 and .412 batting averages, respectively, and Kelly has the team's lone home run on the season to go along with a team-high five RBIs. The Mountaineers are hitting .263 as a team and have a staff 8.31 ERA.

Dartmouth -- Sunday, 11:30 a.m.
Dartmouth travels to Florida with a 0-3 record, having been swept in its season-opening weekend at Georgia Tech. The Big Green will play a doubleheader on Saturday, against Villanova and Northeastern, before matching up with the Hoyas on Sunday. Sean Sullivan leads the Dartmouth offense with six hits in his first 12 at-bats. As a team, the Big Green is hitting .243 as a team, while the pitching staff owns a 9.75 ERA.

Northeastern -- Tuesday, 4 p.m.
Northeastern currently owns a 4-3 record and will play three games over the weekend before Monday's contest. The Huskies, who have played all seven of their games in Fort Meyers, Florida, took two of three from fellow BIG EAST foe Creighton to open the year before splitting a four-game series with Missouri. Northeastern has three players batting over .350 and the offense is averaging more than six runs and 10 hits per game. The pitching staff owns an 8.26 ERA and has allowed 25 extra-base hits in seven games.

Western Michigan -- Wednesday/Friday, noon/noon
Western Michigan holds a 2-4 record and will play four more games -- a three-game series against St. Bonaventure and a single game against Villanova -- before taking on the Hoyas on Wednesday and Friday. The Broncos were swept by Purdue to open the year before defeating Miami (Ohio) and Yale last weekend. Nate Grys leads the offense with a .364 batting average and has one of the team's three home runs. As a team, WMU is batting .234 while the pitching staff has a 4.76 ERA.

Saint Joseph's -- Saturday/Sunday -- 2 p.m./noon
Saint Joseph's currently sits at 1-3 on the season after a season-opening, four-game series at the University of Portland. The Hawks will play five games over the next week before their two contests against the Hoyas. Three student-athletes are batting .375 or better to lead the way for Saint Joseph's. As a team, the offense is hitting at a .248 clip, while the pitching staff owns a 7.36 ERA and has given up 10 home runs in the first four games.
