WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's men's rowing team saw extensive action over the weekend, with both the heavyweight and lightweight squads racing on back-to-back days. The heavyweights had a strong showing at the GW Invite while the lightweight crew raced against four nationally-ranked foes on the Charles River in Massachusetts.
Heavyweight
Georgetown raced in the 30th Annual GW Invite on the Potomac River over the weekend. On Friday, the Hoyas were narrowly edged by Navy in the varsity 8+ race by 2.10 seconds but defeated Michigan by more than 12 seconds. In the second varsity 8+, the Blue & Gray also finished second to Navy and defeated Michigan.
On Saturday, the Hoyas topped both Hobart and Florida Tech in the second varsity 8+ but was narrowly defeated by Florida Tech in the varsity 8+ race by less than a second. The varsity 4+ boat placed second, trailing Hobart by just .80 seconds and topping Holy Cross by nearly 10 seconds.

Lightweight
For the second time in three weeks, the Blue & Gray raced on back-to-back days against a bevy of foes from the Eastern Association of Racing Colleges (EARC). The 11th-ranked Hoyas finished second to No. 5 Yale in all three varsity 8+ races while topping No.12 MIT in both the varsity 8+ and second varsity 8+ events on Saturday.
On Sunday, GU finished third in the varsity 8+ and second varsity 8+ races to No. 3 Columbia and No. 4 Harvard while placing fourth in the third varsity 8+ event.
