WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's men's heavyweight rowing team raced at the Stanford Invitational over the weekend while the lightweight squad was narrowly defeated at Navy for the annual Forster Cup.

Heavyweight
Georgetown took its talents to the West Coast as it participated in the Stanford Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in Redwood Shores, California. The Hoyas raced Hobart and Oregon State on Saturday before going up against the host Cardinal on Sunday.

In Saturday's action, the Blue & Gray opened the day with a second-place showing against Hobart in the second varsity eight before defeating the Statesman by 2.3 seconds in the varsity eight event. In the afternoon session, the Hoyas were narrowly defeated by Oregon State in the second varsity eight by a meager 0.2 seconds and were again edged by the Beavers in the varsity eight race by 1.3 seconds.

On Sunday, the varsity eight opened the day with a second-place finish to Stanford while the second varsity eight won its first race of the weekend by 3.6 seconds over the Cardinal.

Lightweight
Georgetown took the short trip to the Severn River on Saturday to take on Navy for the Forster Cup. The Hoyas posted second-place finishes in both the varsity eight and second varsity eight events before placing fourth in the third varsity eight race.
