QUEENS, N.Y. - The Georgetown University baseball team lost to No. 23 St. John's, 9-1, on Saturday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference game at Jack Kaiser Stadium. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 14-22 and 2-3 in the BIG EAST, while the Red Storm improve to 25-10 and 8-0 in conference action.

Brent Killam (Nokomis, Fla./Venice) started on the mound and went 6.0 innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out three. Ryan P. Davis (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) led the offense with two hits and six other Hoyas registered base knocks.

St. John's opened the scoring with three runs in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. Killam shut the door after that, limiting the Red Storm to just three hits over his final four innings.

Four runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth broke the game open as St. John's t a 9-0 lead.

The Hoyas put together three-straight singles in the ninth to score a run and avoid the shutout. Kai Nelson (New York, N.Y./Fieldston) pinch hit and reached on an infield single. He moved up to second when Sammy Stevens (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice), also pinch hitting, singled off of the pitcher's glove. Ryan Weisenberg (Parkland, Fla./San Ramon Valley [Calif.]) then hit a hard line drive off of the pitcher that ricocheted into right field, scoring Nelson to make it 9-1.
