WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team will head to Chicago this weekend for a three-game conference series against the top-ranked BIG EAST team, DePaul. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday at Cacciatore Stadium beginning at noon with the second game starting 30 minutes after its conclusion. Sunday's finale is scheduled for noon.

The Hoyas are coming off of a big 4-0 win against D.C. rival George Washington during a midweek nonconference game. With the win, GU advanced to 9-25 with a 1-4 mark in the BIG EAST. Against the Colonials, freshman
London Diller (Abilene, Texas/George Ranch High School) pitched her first career shutout while Georgetown scored four runs. Diller went all 7.0 innings, giving up only five hits and walking two while striking out three.
Sophomore Noelle Holiday (Bear, Del./Red Lion Christian Academy) led the Blue & Gray at the plate with three hits, including two doubles and an RBI. Senior Theresa Kane (Mystic, Conn./Stonington) also contributed a double and an RBI to the effort. GU recorded eight hits against the Colonials.
For the season, junior Mallory Belknap (Scottsdale, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) leads the Hoyas at the plate with a .320 (33-for-103) batting average and a team-high two triples. Freshman Savannah Jones (San Rafael, Calif./Terra Linda High School) has a team high of nine doubles, ranked third in the BIG EAST, and 20 RBIs. Junior Sarah Bennett (Owings, Md./Northern) leads GU with four doubles. Sophomore pitcher Anna Brooks Pacha (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) is ranked second in the BIG EAST in strikeouts (92).
DePaul (23-11, 6-0 BIG EAST) is on a six-game winning streak and won its last four games playing five innings in each contest. The Blue Demons went 3-0 against Villanova last weekend and defeated the Wildcats by at least eight runs in each game. Kate Polucha leads the team and is tied for first in the conference with 40 hits. Polucha has a .351 batting average and has recorded five doubles, two home runs and 13 RBIs. Pitchers Pat Moore and Missy Zoch are ranked first and third, respectively, in the BIG EAST in strikeouts, 111 and 85 respectively.
Following this weekend's series, the Blue & Gray will play a midweek game down the road at George Mason on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Georgetown will then host Butler for a three-game BIG EAST series at Nats Youth Academy, April 14-15. Live stats will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
