Five Hoyas Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

May 2, 2018

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Five Georgetown University women's lacrosse players were named All-BIG EAST as announced by the league office on Wednesday. Two Hoyas were named to the first team, and three earned a spot on the second team. The second-seeded Blue & Gray will open BIG EAST Championship play on Thursday evening against the third-seeded University of Denver at Donald R. Dizney Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.

Junior attacker Taylor Gebhardt (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) was a unanimous selection to the first team after another outstanding season. Gebhardt leads the Hoyas in scoring with 59 points on 49 goals and 10 assists. She ranks in the top 50 in goals in the nation and sixth in the BIG EAST in goals per game as well as 10th in points per game. Gebhardt was named the BIG EAST Attacker of the week on April 24 and to the honor roll on April 17. This is her first nod to the first team after earning a spot on the second team a season ago.

Sophomore midfielder Natalia Lynch (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) was also named to the first team. Lynch was GU's team MVP this season after making a huge impact on both ends of the field. She ranks third on the team in scoring with 24 goals and 13 assists for 37 points. Lynch also leads the Blue & Gray in draw controls and caused turnovers with 66 and 21, respectively. She was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week on April 17, and to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on April 3. This is her first-career postseason honor.

Sophomore attacker Michaela Bruno (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City), junior goalkeeper Haelle Chomo (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) and freshman defender Mollie Miller (Alexandria, Va./Saint Stephens & Saint Agnes) all earned spots on the second team. This is the first honor for all three Hoyas.

Bruno is GU's second-leading scorer with 39 goals and 11 assists for 50 points and she also has 11 draw controls on the year. Bruno leads the BIG EAST in game-winning goals with five. She was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on April 10, and May 1.

Chomo has played a majority of the minutes in the cage and boasts 140 saves to go along with an 11.75 goals-against average as well as a .440 save percentage. She has an impressive record of 11-5 on the season. She was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on February 27 and March 20.

Miller has started all 17 games on the backline for the Blue & Gray. She is third on the team in caused turnovers with 13, and managed one assist on offense. Miller often is tasked with covering the top scorer of the opposing team. She was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on April 10. She was just one of four freshmen to earn postseason honors in the league.

The Hoyas enter the postseason with a mark of 12-5 overall and 8-1 in BIG EAST Conference play. The Blue & Gray clinched a BIG EAST Championship berth and the No. 2 seed two weeks ago. Georgetown is currently ranked No. 22 in the IWLCA Coaches' Poll and No. 17 in the Cascade Media Poll.
