WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Women's Golf Head Coach
Kate Schanuel has announced that Gabriella Gilrowski and Megan Gormley have signed their National Letters of Intent (NLI) and will join the Hoyas next fall as members of the Georgetown Class of 2024.
GABRIELLA GILROWSKI
WESTFIELD, IND. / MONTVERDE ACADEMY
Played her final two years of high school at Montverde Academy … Won the Women's Western Junior Championship in June 2019 … Qualified for USGA Girls' Junior Championship and Girls Junior PGA Championship where she finished 32nd … Placed second at the AJGA Senior Showcase at Innisbrook … Also a cheerleader at Montverde … Four-year honor roll student and a member of the National Honors Society.
Schanuel on Gilrowski: "Gabby is a fierce competitor and has a strong desire to excel in the classroom. Her experience on the national level will help us tremendously. Her top finishes this summer including her win at the Women's Western Junior, shows her ability to compete at the national level."
MEGAN GORMLEY
PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CALIF. / PALOS VERDES
Four-year starter and two-year captain at Palos Verdes High School … Two-time Ocean League individual champion (2017-18) and two-time All-Ocean League First Team selection (2017-18) … Named 2018 Ocean League MVP … Helped lead Palos Verdes to four-straight league championships (2016-19) and a 2019 CIF Southern Section Championship … Father, James, played golf professionally and mother, Melinda, played soccer and tennis at Wellesley College … In the classroom, is a member of the National Honors Society.
Schanuel on Gormley: "Megan has a competitive spirit and very strong fundamentals. She helped lead her high school team to the California State Championship in one of their most successful seasons since 2012. She is a well-rounded student-athlete, excels in the classroom and will make us better."
COMING UP NEXT
The Hoyas will open the spring portion of their schedule at the UNF Collegiate, March 9-10 in Jacksonville, Florida. The Blue & Gray is coming off a strong finish to the fall schedule when the squad turned in a third-place showing at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational, hosted by the University of Delaware.
